Follow these easy tips to leave a smaller footprint and live more sustainably!

  • Try to decrease your shopping of clothes and other things during the corona crisis as an experiment.

  • Follow the 7 day rule: When you want to buy something, think about it for 7 days. If you still want to buy it after 7 days, go ahead. Most of the times you will find yourself not needing to buy the product.

  • Repair your clothes, either yourself or by handing it in to a tailor.

  • If you feel a desire to buy new clothes - explore second hand shopping. The variety of clothes offered will amaze you!

  • If you have to buy new clothes, look after certifications like Bra Miljöval, Blå Ängeln and GOTS.

  • Choose clothes that you could see yourself wear for a long time, and not just during the current fashion trends.

  • Look through all the things you have lying around and consider donating some to second hand shops. This will increase its chance of being put to use!

  • Need to buy a gift to a friend? Gift an experience or a donation in the receiver’s name instead of purchasing new things.

  • Read news and journals online instead of getting a physical subscription.

  • Reconsider airplane travels.

  • Follow a vegetarian diet. (Finding it difficult? Try to cut out on beef and diary products).

  • Don’t wash clothes more than necessary.

  • Choose environmentally certified laundry detergents.

  • If you have a buying abstinence, it’s preferable to shop food instead of things.

  • Write a shopping list prior to doing the groceries in order to minimise impulsive purchases.

  • Bring snacks and food from home when travelling to reduce packaging waste from prepackaged food.

  • Reduce your use of plastics, for example by using a wooden toothbrush.

  • Instead of plastic bags, buy multiple-use bags for fruits and vegetables.

  • Freeze your food if you suspect it won’t be consumed in a while.

  • Choose locally produced foods.

  • Bring a multiple-use coffee cup when you’re on the run.

  • Recycle food and things at home.
